Chanukkah/Hanukkah – begins at sundown the night before the first day and goes on for 8 days until sundown. Hanukkah is a Jewish festival commemorating the re-dedication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire. It is also known as the Festival of Lights. Where this festival got that name is unknown, and even Josephus does not know. The written record from Maccabees 1 & 2 reveals the re-dedication of the altar, and not on the 8-day miracle of the oil used to light the menorah that you hear being taught today. Yeshua honored this Feast of Dedication by going to the Temple.
Hanukkah 2022 will begin on the evening of December 18th and will end on the evening of December 26th.
